ContentsWhat data we ask for
Only what we need for your event. We get it when you message us on WhatsApp, by email or on social media; when you take our quiz for couples; when you request a quote or sign a contract; and while we plan your party.
Identification and contact
- Name.
- Phone number or WhatsApp.
- Email address.
Your event details
- Date, city and venue.
- Number of guests.
- Type of event (wedding, private party, brand event…).
Your taste in music
- Your answers to our quiz for couples: genres, your mix of styles and the moments you can’t do without.
- The approximate age range of the couple and of most of their guests.
- Your favorite songs and your do-not-play list.
- Your name and your partner’s, only if you choose to give them.
Invoicing and payment (only if you book)
- Company name or your name, RFC (Mexican tax ID number), tax regime, tax address and the email for your invoices.
- Your proof of payment (bank, date, amount and reference).
Photos and video
- Your image and your guests’ images, if your event is recorded. We explain how we use them in Section 05.
Browsing data
- The data generated when you visit this website. Details in Section 11.
We don’t ask for sensitive data, such as your health, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions or sexual orientation. We don’t need it to put on your party, so please don’t send it to us.
We use your tax information and proof of payment only to perform your contract and meet our tax obligations, so we don’t need separate consent for them (Article 9, section IV, of the Law). If you give us someone else’s data (your partner’s or your wedding planner’s, for example), please tell them about this notice.
ContentsWhat we use it for
These are the necessary purposes (the law calls them primary purposes). Without them, we can’t quote or put on your event:
- Quoting your event and following up on your request.
- Booking and coordinating your event: proposing and assigning your DJ, preparing the music with you (favorites, do-not-play list and key moments) and organizing the logistics with our sound and lighting suppliers, with the venue and with your wedding planner.
- Invoicing and collecting payment for what you booked.
- Complying with the law: tax and accounting obligations, and any request from a competent authority.
- Assisting you: questions, changes, clarifications and complaints, before, during and after the event.
About the quiz for couples. The quiz suggests a DJ using an automated calculation based on your answers. It’s only a suggestion: a person on our team makes the final assignment, based on the date and availability. Your answers stay in your browser until you hit “Send”; at that point, they reach us via WhatsApp.
Optional uses and how to say no
Unless you object, we also use your contact details for these optional purposes (secondary purposes). They are not necessary for the service:
- Sending you promotions, news and content from CAPITAL DJs.
- Asking you to answer satisfaction surveys and to leave us a review (on Google, for example).
- Posting photos and videos of your event on our social media and on this website. This use is handled separately: only with your express consent (Section 05).
Not interested? Just say so, anytime.
Email my “no”You can also tell us on WhatsApp or reply “BAJA” (Spanish for “unsubscribe”) to any promotion. You can do this before giving us your data or at any time afterward.
Saying no to these uses doesn’t change anything about your quote, your contract or the service.
ContentsPhotos and videos of your event
We love to show off our parties, but your wedding is yours.
- We only post photos or videos of your event on our social media (Instagram, TikTok) or on this website if you give us your express consent: in the contract, in writing or by message.
- We never publish your names or tag you without your permission.
- You can withdraw your permission whenever you want, and we’ll remove what we posted from our accounts and from this website. Please note: we can’t control copies that other people have already saved or shared.
- Were you a guest and ended up in a photo or video we posted? Write to us and we’ll take it down.
Who we share your data with
We don’t sell or rent your data. We only share it with the people who make your event possible, and with anyone the law requires us to share it with.
The Law distinguishes two cases (Article 2). When someone processes your data on our behalf and following our instructions, they are a data processor (persona encargada); the Regulations of the Law call this a remission (remisión). A transfer (transferencia) is when we give your data to a third party that uses it on its own behalf. The Regulations don’t require us to tell you about remissions, but we’d rather you know.
| With whom | What for | Do we ask for your consent? |
|---|---|---|
| The DJs and collaborators who work your event | Preparing your music, coordinating with you and playing at your party. | No. They work on our behalf (remission), and we ask them to keep your data confidential. |
| Production suppliers we hire (sound, lighting and setup) | Setting up and operating the equipment for your event. | No. They work on our behalf (remission), or it’s necessary to perform your contract (Article 36, sections IV and VII). |
| Your venue and your wedding planner or coordinator | Coordinating schedules, access, setup and the minute-by-minute timeline. | No. It’s necessary to perform your contract (Article 36, sections IV and VII). We share this notice with them and give them only what they need for your event (Article 35). |
| Service providers: accounting and invoicing, messaging (WhatsApp, by Meta), hosting and work tools (such as Notion and Google) | Keeping our books, issuing your electronic tax invoices, chatting with you and storing the information about your event. | No. They are data processors (remission). Some of them store data outside Mexico, for example, in the United States. |
| Competent authorities | Complying with a law, a court order or a duly grounded and reasoned request. | No. The law allows it (Article 36, sections I, V and VI). |
We ask our data processors to use your data only for what we entrust to them, to protect it with security measures and to keep it confidential, even after they stop working with us.
We don’t make transfers that require your consent. If we ever wanted to make one, we would ask for your permission first, and the third party would receive this notice and take on the same obligations we have (Article 35).
ContentsHow long we keep it and how we protect it
- If you requested a quote and didn’t book: we keep your data for up to 12 months to follow up with you. After that, we delete it.
- If you booked: for as long as our relationship lasts and, after that, only what the law requires us to keep. For example, tax information is kept for 5 years, as required by the Federal Tax Code (Código Fiscal de la Federación).
- Your quiz answers: for as long as they’re useful for your event, and for up to 12 months after it.
When we no longer need your data, we block it (no one uses it; it’s kept only in case a question of liability ever comes up), and when the legal retention period ends, we delete it (Articles 10 and 24 of the Law).
We protect it with administrative, technical and physical measures: password-protected access and two-step verification, access only for those who need it, and confidentiality commitments with our team and suppliers (Articles 18 and 20). If anything ever happens that significantly affects your data, we’ll notify you immediately so you can protect yourself (Article 19).
Your ARCO rights
ARCO stands for Access, Rectification, Cancellation and Opposition. These rights are yours, and you or your legal representative can exercise them whenever you want. Exercising one doesn’t prevent you from exercising another (Article 21).
- AAccess. Find out what data of yours we hold and how we use it.
- RRectification. Have it corrected if it’s wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- CCancellation. Ask us to delete it from our records.
- OOpposition. Ask us to stop using it for a specific purpose.
How to make a request
Email us at privacidad@capitaldjs.mx with the subject line “ARCO Rights.” Your request must include (Article 28):
- Your name and an email address or postal address where we can reply.
- A copy of your official ID (INE voter ID card, passport or cédula profesional). If someone is making the request on your behalf: their ID and the document proving they represent you (a signed letter of authorization, carta poder, or a notarized power of attorney, poder notarial).
- Which right you want to exercise and over which data, clearly explained. For access, it’s enough to say you want to know your data.
- Anything that helps us find your records: the date and city of your event, or the number you messaged us from.
- For a correction: what needs to be changed and, if applicable, a document that supports it (Article 30).
If anything is missing, we’ll ask you for it.
How long it takes
- Day 0We receive your request.
- Up to 20 business daysWe tell you whether your request is granted or not, and why.
- + up to 15 business daysIf it’s granted, we carry it out.
Each period may be extended only once, for an equal period, if the case justifies it; if that happens, we’ll let you know (Article 31). We reply through the same channel you used to write to us. If you requested access, we’ll send you your data in an electronic file once we’ve confirmed your identity (Articles 31 and 32).
It’s free. We would only charge you for copies or shipping if you ask for a hard copy; if you send the same request more than once within 12 months, the cost may not exceed 3 UMA (Unidad de Medida y Actualización, Mexico’s official reference unit for calculating fees, fines and other legal amounts; Article 34).
We can only say no in the cases set out by law (Article 33): for example, if the requester’s identity is not proven, or if a law or an authority prevents us. Nor can we delete data we need to perform your contract or to meet a legal obligation (Article 25). We’ll always tell you why.
ContentsWithdrawing your consent
You can withdraw the consent you gave us at any time. Email us at privacidad@capitaldjs.mx with the subject line “Withdraw Consent,” following the same requirements and response times as for ARCO rights (Section 08).
Withdrawal does not have retroactive effect (Article 7). And please note: if you withdraw consent for the use of data we need for your event or to comply with the law, we may no longer be able to provide the service, or we may have to keep some data for the legally required period.
ContentsLimiting use or disclosure
- Our exclusion list. Email us at privacidad@capitaldjs.mx with the subject line “No Promotions,” or reply “BAJA” (Spanish for “unsubscribe”) to any promotion. We’ll add you to our internal list free of charge so we don’t send you advertising again, and we’ll confirm that you’ve been added.
- PROFECO’s REPEP. You can also register your phone number with the Public Registry to Avoid Advertising (Registro Público para Evitar Publicidad) of Mexico’s Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor): repep.profeco.gob.mx.
- Photos and videos. You can refuse or withdraw your permission whenever you want (Section 05).
Cookies and tracking technologies
Cookies and similar technologies (your browser’s local storage, pixels or web beacons) store or read information on your device when you visit a web page. They can be used to obtain data such as your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you visit, the date and time, and where you came from.
| Type | What for | Provided by |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary and functional | Letting the website remember things in your browser: for example, whether you’ve already seen the intro animation, your quiz answers so you can pick up where you left off, or the language you chose. Almost all of it stays in your browser; only the language cookie (cdj_idioma) reaches our site, so we can show you the site in that language. | CAPITAL DJs |
| Website security and delivery | Protecting the website from attacks, delivering it quickly and showing you the site in the right language. It processes your IP address and technical data about your visit. | Cloudflare, our hosting provider |
| Cookieless visit counting | Counting how many people visit the website, without storing anything in your browser or identifying you. It processes technical data about the visit. | Cloudflare Web Analytics |
| Analytics | Counting visits and seeing which sections work, with aggregated data. Only if you accept it in the cookie notice when you arrive. | Google Analytics 4, by Google |
| Third-party content | The playlists of our DJs load from Spotify and Apple Music, which may use their own cookies. We serve the website’s fonts and code libraries from our own site, so for those we don’t connect you with anyone else. | Spotify and Apple |
Language preference. If you choose a language in the site’s language selector, we set our own cookie, cdj_idioma, which only stores “es” or “en” and lasts 12 months. Your browser sends it to our site on each visit so we can show you the site in the language you chose, and our site renews it so it lasts that long. It doesn’t store personal data, isn’t used to identify or track you, and we don’t use it for analytics or advertising. If you delete it, the site goes back to choosing the language automatically. If you haven’t chosen a language, we show you the site in Spanish or English based on your browser’s language and the approximate country you’re connecting from, which Cloudflare infers from your IP address at that moment; we don’t store it.
We don’t currently use advertising pixels, such as those from Meta or TikTok. If we turn them on, we’ll update this notice and ask for your permission when you arrive.
How to turn them off. You can reject analytics in the cookie notice, or change your choice at any time under “Cookie preferences,” at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge). The website keeps working; only the quiz will no longer be able to remember your answers.
If you click or tap WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify or Apple Music, you leave our website, and those platforms’ privacy policies apply.
ContentsMinors
Our services and this website are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you’re organizing a party for a minor, you are the one who gives us the data and the consent, as their parent or guardian. If we find out that we received a minor’s data without that consent, we delete it.
ContentsChanges to this notice
We may update this notice because of changes in the law, in our services or in how we work. The current version is always available at www.capitaldjs.mx/aviso-de-privacidad/, with the date of the last update at the top. That Spanish version is the legally binding one; this English courtesy translation is available at www.capitaldjs.mx/en/privacy-notice/.
If the change is significant (a new purpose or a transfer that requires your consent), we’ll also let you know by email or WhatsApp, if we have your contact details, and ask for your consent when the law requires it (Article 11).
ContentsIf you’re not satisfied
We’d love for you to write to us first: almost anything can be sorted out with one message. But if you feel we haven’t respected your rights, or you disagree with our response, you can turn to the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno (Mexico’s Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance), which is currently the authority that protects personal data held by companies and private parties. That role used to belong to INAI, which ceased to exist in 2025.
You have 15 business days from the date of our response to file your data protection request (solicitud de protección de datos). If we didn’t respond, you can file it as soon as our response period expires (Article 40).
